Tyreek Hill provides good and bad news about his injury status for rest of season

The Miami Dolphins don’t have a Tyreek Hill problem yet, but they could face one if his 2024 season continues on its current trajectory.

Miami’s star wide receiver is pushing through the pain of a torn ligament in his wrist. For the first time, Hill has admitted that surgery was discussed with doctors. While he’s not planning to undergo surgery for now, that decision may change.

Speaking to the media about his injury, Hill presented a mix of good and bad news.

“I’ve been consulting a lot of people about this injury,” Hill said. “At the end of the day, I just have to tough it out and manage the pain. The more I play, the worse it’s going to get, but I’m committed to pushing through for my team. I’m locked in, no matter how I feel.”

Hill also acknowledged the possibility of surgery, stating, “It’s been discussed, but at the end of the day, the decision is mine. Right now, my call is to stay on the field.”

The key question is whether playing with the injury risks further damage to Tyreek Hill’s wrist. If not, it’s simply a matter of enduring the pain. However, if continuing to play could worsen the condition and jeopardize his career, stepping back would be the wiser choice.

The Dolphins, along with Hill, are optimistic about running the table and securing a playoff spot. Their margin for error, however, is razor-thin—just one game, if that. While 11 wins will likely earn them a postseason berth, 10 may fall short.

If Miami suffers another loss, they should consider shutting Hill down for the remainder of the season. Opting for surgery and focusing on a 2025 return might be the best long-term decision. Although the Dolphins can win without Hill, his presence significantly impacts opposing defenses by drawing attention away from other players. With the season hanging by a thread, Hill must weigh his immediate contributions against the potential long-term consequences.
