On Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals released a player they drafted in 2023. With a 1-3 record, the team has opted for a permanent change at a key position as they head into Week 5. Punter Brad Robbins, who suffered a quad injury during training camp, began the season on injured reserve but was activated on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, the Bengals waived Robbins on Tuesday after being impressed with Ryan Rehkow’s performance this season. “The Bengals have officially waived punter Brad Robbins,” Baby noted on X. “The former Michigan punter, a sixth-round pick in 2023, lost his spot to undrafted rookie Ryan Rehkow, who has performed exceptionally well in recent weeks.”

The Bengals selected Robbins with the No. 217 pick in the 2023 draft. He punted 76 times for the Bengals in 2023, averaging 44.3 yards per punt. He placed 20 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Rehkow was first signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent after graduating from BYU. Following the loss of All-Pro punter Tommy Townsend to the Houston Texans in free agency, the Chiefs were in need of a punter. After OTAs, Kansas City let Rehkow go because Matt Araiza was hired.
Rehkow is averaging 58.4 yards per punt on his nine attempts. He has placed three punts inside the 20-yard line, and has a long punt of 80 yards.
