SHOCKING: As Star Turns Down $64 Million Contract Offer From the Bruins

Reporters who have referenced Boston Bruins President Cam Neely’s remarks from Monday include Elliotte Friedman. Neely alluded to the fact that the team made Jeremy Swayman an offer of $64 million during their most recent contract negotiations, sounding a little sour in the process.

On Monday morning, Friedman stated, “Today, Bruins management is meeting with the media.Neely added that Swayman expressed his desire to remain with the Bruins. He’s still not making things easy for the team. When asked where things stand, Neely said, “I have 64 million reasons why I’d be playing right now,” adding that he didn’t want to get into specifics about what Swayman was requesting.

The implication here is that Swayman has turned down eight offers from the Bruins totaling $8 million.

Swayman is not expected to sign when the Bruins submit their opening night roster the following week. Joonas Korpisalo is anticipated to start against the Panthers on October 8 after a solid performance in camp, according to head coach Jim Montgomery, while general manager Don Sweeney stated it’s “unlikely” Swayman will be available for the regular-season opening.

Things are certainly nasty between the two sides, but the Bruins did reveal that Swayman flat-out informed them he wants to remain with the organization. It doesn’t seem like the organization is ready to consider a trade at this time, and this isn’t about seeking one.
