OFFICIAL: Boston Red Sox Anticipated To Keep This Player Out Of Action In This Season

Due to forearm pain, Boston Red Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks is probably going to be sidelined, which will put an end to his hopes of making a comeback this season following Tommy John surgery.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora says that Hendriks is having pain on the outside of his forearm, which is unrelated to the operation. Dr. Keith Meister, the team physician for the Texas Rangers who did the operation last year, will examine a scan of the injury.

The MRI was on him. Nothing major,  Cora remarked.  He’s looking into it and will update us, but it looks like we’ll probably have to shut him down.

More details will be available in a few days, according to Cora.

The three-time All-Star Hendriks was sidelined for the start of the 2023 season due to non-Hodgkin lymphoma treatment.

After making five bullpen appearances on May 29, going 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA, he returned on August 2 and underwent surgery to repair a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament in his right arm.

Hendriks inked a $10 million, two-year contract with the Red Sox in February. Between August 18 and September 5, the 35-year-old Australian right-hander pitched five innings in six minor league rehab games with a 1.80 ERA. Following his most recent Triple A Worcester game in Rochester, he experienced tightness.

Hendriks has played for the White Sox, Kansas City, Toronto, Oakland, and Minnesota. His career record is 33–34 with a 3.82 ERA and 116 saves. After completing treatment for Stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2023, he was selected the AL Comeback Player of the Year.
