The Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive end KJ Henry to their practice squad, the team announced on Friday. This move follows Henry being waived earlier in the week to create space for free agent defensive tackle Lawrence Guy on the 53-man roster.
Cincinnati had originally picked up Henry from the Washington Commanders after final roster cuts. Ironically, the Bengals are set to face the Commanders on Monday night.
In his two games with the Bengals, Henry played 11 defensive snaps, recorded one pressure, and earned a Pro Football Focus grade of 63.3. While he seemed to be performing well enough to stay on the active roster, a wave of injuries at defensive tackle forced the Bengals to make a difficult decision. The situation was further complicated by the impending return of Myles Murphy from IR, which would add more depth to the defensive end position.
Fortunately, Henry will remain with the Bengals for now as he seeks to continue his development in his second NFL season.
