Miami Hurricanes Loses four-star Player to Transfer Portal Before College Football Playoff

Miami quarterback Reese Poffenbarger, with one year of eligibility remaining, has decided to enter the transfer portal after serving as the backup to Cam Ward this season.

During his two-year career at Albany, Poffenbarger amassed 6,613 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, and eight rushing scores. However, his playing time was limited this year as Ward solidified himself as a top-five prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Poffenbarger appeared in just four games this season, completing 6 of 7 passes for 20 yards and rushing five times for 12 yards. His limited opportunities stemmed from Ward’s exceptional performance, leaving Poffenbarger to watch from the sidelines.

The decision to transfer follows Miami’s disappointment of missing the College Football Playoff, finishing just behind Alabama in the latest rankings. The Hurricanes will now prepare for a prestigious bowl game, but Poffenbarger is seeking a new opportunity to showcase his talent.
