JUST IN: Maple Leafs Are Expected To Acquire $21 Million In The Trade Pitch

The Toronto Maple Leafs will open training camp on September 18, but the team may recruit players before then.

The proposed trade would be an interesting move for the Maple Leafs as they look to acquire a proven middle-six forward, Lawson Crouse, in exchange for two players who have shown inconsistency in the NHL and a draft pick.

Crouse, who is entering the third year of his five-year, $21.5 million contract, was selected 11th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. He could potentially serve as a solid second or third-line forward for the Maple Leafs, bringing additional depth scoring.

Last season with the Arizona Coyotes, Crouse scored 23 goals and added 19 assists for a total of 42 points in 82 games. Over his NHL career, he has played in 504 games, recording 103 goals and 94 assists for 197 points.

In return, the Maple Leafs would trade Nick Robertson, who is on a one-year, $875,000 contract. Robertson has had difficulty staying in the lineup and has played 87 games over three seasons, with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points.

Additionally, Rasmus Liljegren, who has been a healthy scratch at times during the playoffs and late in the season, would also be part of the deal. Despite being given a two-year extension by Toronto this offseason, Liljegren played 55 games last season, contributing 3 goals and 20 assists for 23 points.
