EXCLUSIVE: Kansas City Chiefs running back is ready and penciled in for Sunday game after spending weeks on the practice squad

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is eager to hit the field. After a few weeks on the practice squad and mastering Andy Reid’s offensive system, he’s ready for action. This Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers marks his first appearance as a Chief since 2018, and he aims to be a key player in the backfield alongside Patrick Mahomes.

Having spent the last five years with the Cleveland Browns, Hunt reflected on what it will feel like to return to the Chiefs. “It’s still hard to envision,” he said. “Once that day comes, it’ll feel real. It’s been a long time coming, and I can’t wait to wear the red again, go out there with my teammates, and give it my all. I plan to perform at my best and contribute to the team’s success.”

Hunt will join a running back group that includes rookie Carson Steele and veteran Samaje Perine. While it’s uncertain how much playing time he’ll get on Sunday, he is expected to see some carries.

The Chiefs are looking to maintain their perfect record as they face their first divisional opponent of the season. Although their performance hasn’t been flawless, Kansas City is still considered a top contender. On Sunday, the rivalry will be in the spotlight, but many will be eager to see how Hunt integrates into the team after his long absence.
