BREAKING NEWS Maple Leafs Acquire Star $36 Million Forward In Blockbuster

One trade idea has the Toronto Maple Leafs acquiring a top forward during their Stanley Cup window.

In exchange for Nelson, Toronto would give up two NHL players, a prospect, and two draft picks in what would be a blockbuster transaction.

Nelson’s six-year, $36 million contract is about to expire. Nelson may become Toronto’s starting left winger or play center, giving the Maple Leafs even more depth. Nelson scored 34 goals and dished out 35 assists for 69 points in 82 games during his previous season with the Islanders.

Robertson and the draft choices would make up a significant portion of the return. Robertson was an RFA when he inked a $875,000 one-year deal with Toronto. With the Islanders, the former second-round pick would have a larger role and the potential to be a top-six forward.

The American player has spent his entire NHL career with the Islanders, but his upcoming contract could be noteworthy as he might become a sought-after trade candidate.

“I’m interested to see what happens with Brock Nelson’s contract because he’s a significant part of the team, although Lou Lamoriello isn’t likely to share any details,” Elliotte Friedman noted on ‘32 Thoughts The Podcast.’

With Nelson approaching the final year of his contract, EyesonIsles.com highlighted him as a potential trade target if the Islanders face early-season difficulties.

Nelson’s name, along with Kyle Palmieri’s, is likely to be a focal point in trade discussions around the league unless the Islanders demonstrate that they are more than just a Wild Card team and show that they’re aiming for a deep playoff run.
