BREAKING NEWS: Kansas City Chiefs New Injury Update

On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs resumed practice with several injury updates, most of which are promising for a key starter and several key players. As the team prepares to finalize its 53-man roster by 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday, the updates from Monday’s session are encouraging for the defending champions.

Nate Taylor of The Athletic reported that defensive tackle Chris Jones, offensive lineman Wanya Morris, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire all participated in practice. However, wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was present to observe but did not participate due to recovery from a sternoclavicular dislocation.

Taylor also highlighted that newly acquired wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was in attendance, wearing No. 9, which led to former rugby player Louis Rees-Zammit switching to No. 49.

Jones’s return is significant as he had been absent for much of training camp and all three preseason games. Coach Reid had previously expressed confidence that Jones would be ready for Week 1.

Edwards-Helaire had also missed parts of camp and only played in the first preseason game. He has been dealing with an illness related to post-traumatic stress disorder.

Morris, who sustained a knee injury in the preseason finale against the Chicago Bears, had given the team a scare. Reid later indicated that Morris had only “tweaked” his knee, and his participation on Monday confirms his recovery.
