BREAKING NEWS: Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy To Be Replaced By This Rising Bright Football Mind

Following the Dallas Cowboys’ embarrassing 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 15, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is facing some criticism. While fans are frequently the first to demand for coaches and players to resign, some members of the media are joining in and suggesting coaches to replace McCarthy. One NFL writer and analyst believes he knows the “perfect” option to fill in for the Cowboys.

Joe Summers from Sport DFW highlighted on September 15 that the ideal replacement for McCarthy became evident during the Cowboys vs. Saints game.

He noted that “New Orleans offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is quickly gaining traction as a head coaching candidate.” According to the NFL writer, “Derek Carr led the Saints to score on every drive in Week 1 and continued that success into the fourth quarter against the Cowboys, giving Jerry Jones a clear view of a potential McCarthy replacement when the time comes.

Summers also mentioned, “As seen in 2023, Dallas struggled against more effective strategies. Kubiak is an emerging talent in football and could be among Jones’ top choices this offseason. Given the evident mistake of retaining a lame-duck coach, it’s time for Jones to explore other options. While McCarthy will stay on as head coach for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, it’s likely that someone else will take the reins afterward.

Other Candidates to Replace Mike McCarthy

Coaching the Cowboys is a big job, and many other coaches would be in the running if Jerry Jones wanted to replace McCarthy. In a September 16 Sport DFW story Jerry Jones lists three potential candidates to coach the Cowboys, none of whom are Kubiak.

His top choice is Bill Belichick, saying, “If the Cowboys want McCarthy’s potential replacement to lead them to a Super Bowl, look no further than one of the best coaches to ever do it.

Belichick and the Cowboys appear to be an ideal pairing, particularly if the team aims to break its playoff struggles. However, Belichick’s potential move to the franchise may depend on Jones relinquishing some of his general manager responsibilities, given Belichick’s hands-on approach. This is a trade-off worth considering if it leads to bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to America’s Team.

In January, Yahoo! Sports asked Jones what he admired about Belichick, and his response raised eyebrows, hinting that he might be open to having Belichick as coach. “I know him personally and I like him,” Jones said. “There’s no doubt in my mind we could work together. None. None.”

Additionally, Platana proposed Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo as potential replacements for McCarthy. Platana emphasized that hiring Johnson would signal to Cowboys fans that the franchise is ready to embrace a new era.
