BREAKING NEWS: Bruins Face Defensive Crisis as Star Player Out with Devastating Season Ending Injury

Just one day after Jim Montgomery referred to him as the most impactful player on the Bruins’ roster, Hampus Lindholm hobbled off the ice and headed straight to the locker room late in the first period of Tuesday’s game against St. Louis. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a lower body injury and did not return for the second period.

Lindholm was injured after blocking a shot from Justin Faulk with 3:08 remaining in the first period.

His absence would be a major blow. Lindholm ranks second on the Bruins in ice time at 21:38 and had recently been placed as the sole defenseman on the team’s top power-play unit.

The injury will likely prompt a roster move, with someone potentially being called up from Providence as a precaution. The Bruins were in the middle of a two-city road trip. Andrew Peeke is also injured but hasn’t been placed on injured reserve. Jim Montgomery mentioned the team wasn’t ready to make a move yet. After sending Matt Poitras down on Monday, they didn’t make a corresponding call-up, leaving them without any extra skaters.
