On Friday, Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that goaltender Michael DiPietro, forward Vinni Lettieri, and defenseman Jordan Oesterle have been placed on waivers for assignment to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League. Before they can be sent down, all three players must clear waivers, allowing any team to claim them.
DiPietro, 27, has spent the majority of his career in the minors while with both the Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks. Last season, he played for the AHL’s Providence Bruins, achieving an 18-9-2 record in 30 games, with a 2.51 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and four shutouts. The Bruins recently acquired goalie Jiri Patera from the Canucks.
The 29-year-old Lettieri scored five goals and totaled nine points in 46 regular-season games with the Wild during the 2023-24 season. He is anticipated to be assigned to AHL Providence once he clears waivers.
Oesterle signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Bruins in early July. The 32-year-old defenseman played 22 regular-season games for Calgary last year, notching two assists and blocking 33 shots, while averaging 13:31 in ice time.
The Bruins have one more preseason game scheduled for Saturday in Washington, after which they will finalize their roster cuts on Monday.
