The Detroit Tigers’ minor league teams are concluding their seasons, with Triple-A Toledo finishing on Sunday and missing the playoffs. Double-A Erie is currently competing in the postseason, while High-A West Michigan ended their season with a record of 68-63 and did not qualify for the playoffs. Single-A Lakeland made it to the playoffs and reached the championship series in the Florida State League but lost in three games to the Palm Beach Cardinals.
As the season wraps up, league awards are being announced. In the Midwest League’s High-A division, Jaden Hamm, a Tigers prospect ranked ninth by ITD and seventh by MLB Pipeline, was named pitcher of the year.
Hamm was the only Tigers player selected for the 2024 Midwest League All-Star Team. He spent the entire season with West Michigan, making 24 appearances—23 as a starter—finishing with a record of 5-4, a 2.64 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and 122 strikeouts over 99 innings.
The Tigers selected Hamm in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft from Middle Tennessee State. During his three years there, he made 41 appearances, with 19 as a starter, posting an 11-7 record, a 4.56 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, 4.3 walks per nine innings, and 10.0 strikeouts per nine innings over 150 innings pitched. In his first season within the Tigers organization, he played for their rookie team and Single-A Lakeland, making five starts without a decision. He recorded a 0.00 ERA, allowed just one unearned run, had a 0.33 WHIP, and struck out 12 batters in 12 innings.
