BREAKING NEWS: Following Isiah Pacheco’s Injury The Chiefs Will Add Star To Their Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs will be missing their star running back, Isiah Pacheco, for six to eight weeks due to a fractured fibula sustained during their Week 2 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

In response, the Chiefs are bringing back a familiar face to help bolster their backfield. Reports indicate that Kansas City plans to sign veteran running back Kareem Hunt to their practice squad. Hunt visited the team’s facility on Monday, and it appears that the visit was successful enough for the Chiefs to decide to resign him.

At 29, Hunt was originally drafted by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Toledo. He played the first two years of his career in Kansas City, where he appeared in 27 games, amassed 2,151 rushing yards, and scored 25 total touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie.

However, he was released in November 2018 following a controversy involving a video of him pushing and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel. Hunt joined the Cleveland Browns shortly after and played for them until 2023. Last season, he participated in 15 games, scored nine touchdowns, and rushed for 411 yards on 135 carrier.

Now returning to Kansas City after six years, Hunt will initially join the practice squad but could be promoted to the active roster, potentially joining fellow running backs Samaje Perine and Carson Steele. The Chiefs will play the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 3, but it is uncertain whether Hunt will be elevated to the active roster before that game.
