The Los Angeles Lakers have signed center Christian Koloko to a two-way contract, while releasing two-way forward Blake Hinson.
Koloko, standing at 7’0″ and weighing 230 pounds, last played for the Toronto Raptors during the 2022-23 season. He appeared in 58 games, starting 19, and averaged 3.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 13.8 minutes per game. Drafted 33rd overall by the Raptors in the 2022 NBA Draft, the 24-year-old was waived by the team on January 17, 2024. Originally from Cameroon, Koloko moved to the United States before his junior year of high school in 2017.
Koloko played three seasons at the University of Arizona (2019-22), where he averaged 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.8 blocks in 25.4 minutes per game during his final year. He earned accolades including Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, most improved player, and first-team all-conference.
Hinson, who was signed by the Lakers on July 5, has now been waived.
