The Rangers have announced that general manager Chris Young has been awarded a multi-year contract extension and has also been promoted to president of baseball operations. Young initially joined the team as general manager after the 2020 season, working under then-president of baseball operations Jon Daniels. After Daniels was dismissed in August 2022, Young took on the top baseball role, effectively managing the position vacated by Daniels.
Given that the Rangers secured the 2023 World Series title and with Young’s contract expiring at the end of the 2024 season, this extension might have been anticipated earlier. Nevertheless, it’s reassuring that the extension is now in place, ensuring stability in the Rangers’ front office for the foreseeable future.
