BREAKING NEWS: Chicago White Sox Crucial Injury Updates

Even though the Chicago White Sox have been officially ruled out of playoff contention, they continue to fight hard under interim manager Grady Sizemore. On Friday, they suffered a 4-2 loss to division rival Detroit Tigers. However, there was some positive news for the team and its fans from GM Chris Getz. According to MLB.com’s Scott Merkin on X (formerly Twitter), third baseman Yoan Moncada and starting pitcher Michael Soroka are set to begin rehab assignments soon.

With the team trailing 42.5 games behind the division-leading Cleveland Guardians, they are already looking ahead to 2025 and beyond. This marks the first year of a rebuild under Getz, who took over after firing former manager Pedro Grifol a few weeks ago. Sizemore is now assessing the potential long-term assets on the major league roster. While starting pitcher Garrett Crochet and outfielder Luis Robert Jr. are well-known, the team is in need of additional talent.

Yoan Moncada injury update

As the season progresses, Soroka and Moncada could become key figures to watch. Both players have had successful pasts but have recently underperformed. Soroka is currently 0-10 with an ERA over five, still searching for his first win with the White Sox. Moncada, who came to the team in the Chris Sale trade, has yet to live up to his high prospect status. Hopefully, he can end 2024 on a strong note.

Moncada, who has been on the 60-Day IL with a thigh injury, and Soroka, who has been on the 15-Day IL with a shoulder issue, have been sidelined for some time. Their return could potentially help the White Sox secure a few more victories. Getz has stated that both players will head to Charlotte for their rehab assignments.

Given this, their return seems imminent. Charlotte, the organization’s Triple-A team, is the last step before the majors. Ideally, Soroka and Moncada will have strong performances with the minor league club and come back to Chicago with renewed momentum.
