JUST IN: Another Super Player Added To The Injured List, Confirm By A.J. Hinch

CHICAGO (AP) – On Friday, the Detroit Tigers placed shortstop Javier Báez on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right hip and lumbar spine.

Manager A.J. Hinch mentioned that further tests will provide more details about the injury.

Báez, who returned to Wrigley Field on Tuesday, was a key player for the Cubs during their 2016 World Series win. He had a standout performance in the NLDS, hitting .375, and earned co-MVP honors in the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, contributing significantly to the Cubs’ first championship in 108 years.

Javier Báez was reportedly offered $160-$170 million in a longterm deal in 2020 - Bleed Cubbie Blue

A two-time NL All-Star in 2018 and 2019, Báez has faced difficulties since joining the Tigers on a $140 million, six-year deal in December 2021.

“He came to my office after the game, expressing ongoing issues with his hip and back, so we arranged for tests. The initial results suggested he needs to be placed on the injured list. He will undergo additional tests tomorrow to determine the full extent and duration of the injury,” Hinch said.
