JUST IN: Minnesota Twins Star Suffers Another Serious Injury Setback

Following Byron Buxton’s most recent injury, the Minnesota Twins took a couple of days before placing him on the injured list. While this new hip issue doesn’t seem to be severe, dealing with injuries is always unpredictable with our frequently sidelined center fielder.

The timeline for Byron Buxton with the Minnesota Twins is puzzling. Buxton exited in the fifth inning of a game against the Kansas City Royals on August 12, heading to the clubhouse right away due to hip discomfort.

A few days later, he was put on the injured list, retroactive to August 13th. Initially, there was hope that he might only be sidelined for the minimum required time. Now, a week has passed, and we’re still uncertain about his return. While the Twins’ head athletic trainer mentioned that Friday is still a possibility, there’s a lack of certainty about that timeline.

It’s promising that a return for Friday’s game at home against the St. Louis Cardinals remains a possibility. However, the lack of a clear timeline from the Twins is concerning. Buxton has missed significant time due to hip problems in both 2021 and 2022.

The current discomfort is linked to his previous knee issues. Minnesota’s trainer provided additional details to Phil Miller of the Star Tribune.

Byron Buxton could be a key asset for the Minnesota Twins as they head into the final stretch of the season. While we can’t assume he’ll definitely be in the lineup, having Rocco put Buxton in on Friday would be a welcome sight. The Twins have recently struggled with pitching, particularly in the bullpen.

Although their lineup has been reliably productive, reinserting Byron Buxton would be a significant enhancement both offensively and defensively. It’s also worth mentioning that Buxton has been notably healthier this season compared to his usual pattern.

Buxton, with a 137 OPS+, is just three games away from setting a new career high for games played in a season over his 10-year MLB career. Since June 7th, he’s been on a tear, boasting an impressive .325/.388/.675 slash line.

During this 46-game span, he’s also hit 15 doubles and 13 home runs. Neither Manuel Margot nor Austin Martin can match that level of production, no matter how well they perform.

With the Twins in the hunt for the postseason and trying to catch the Cleveland Guardians, getting Buxton back in action as soon as possible would be extremely beneficial.
