The Miami Dolphins faced the Jets burdened by a sub-.500 record but emerged victorious in dramatic fashion. Tyreek Hill sent a powerful message to Tua Tagovailoa following his overtime heroics, which secured a 32-26 win. Tagovailoa connected with Jonnu Smith on a 10-yard touchdown pass in overtime, spoiling Aaron Rodgers’ first 300-yard passing game in nearly three years and keeping Miami’s playoff hopes alive, as noted by ESPN.
“A win means a lot,” Tagovailoa said. “It’s huge because we can’t afford to lose another game.”
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill showed strong support for Tua.
Tyreek Hill praised Tua Tagovailoa’s leadership and impact on the Miami Dolphins, as noted in a post on X by David Furones. “Tua has been playing lights out,” Hill said. “He doesn’t get enough credit for what he does beyond making plays. He’s a great leader—whether it’s getting us lined up or correcting mistakes like when I ran a route wrong. He told me exactly how to fix it. We just have to follow his standard because he’s playing at a high level. We need to match that every play.”
Hill had a standout performance against the Jets, catching 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. Reflecting on the team’s urgency, Hill said, “When we were down 23-15 in the fourth quarter, everyone knew what was at stake. If we lose, our season is over.”
This marked Hill’s best game since Week 1 against the Jaguars, where he posted seven catches for 130 yards. Despite his impressive play, Hill has expressed frustration with limited opportunities, citing a specific fourth-down play against Green Bay in Week 13 when he wasn’t on the field. “As a competitor, it sucks,” Hill admitted. “But as a teammate, I understand what the coaches are trying to do. It’s about growth and learning as a group.”
While Hill’s targets and catches are down this season, he remains optimistic, saying, “It is what it is. We all have to learn from it—coaches and players alike. We take our wins and losses together.” Hill has recorded 769 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games this season, striving to live up to his claim of being the NFL’s best player.
