In just over 24 hours, the Michigan Wolverines will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in what many consider the best rivalry in college football. While Michigan has won the last three matchups, they head into Saturday afternoon’s game as significant underdogs. The opening betting line favored Ohio State by 22.5 points, and although it has narrowed slightly, the Buckeyes remain 21-point favorites. Adding to the Wolverines’ challenges, head coach Sherrone Moore received disappointing news on Friday morning. According to recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports, Michigan lost a key commitment from four-star quarterback Brady Hart. The Florida native flipped his commitment to Texas A&M just one day before Michigan’s crucial game against Ohio State. Hart is also expected to reclassify and join the Aggies in 2025.
“Texas A&M is home! Gig ‘Em!” Hart shared with Fawcett. On3Sports reported that Hart also gave late consideration to LSU during his decision-making process. He is set to visit College Station this weekend for an official visit ahead of the Texas vs. Texas A&M matchup.
Moore and his staff might not be too concerned about Hart’s decision in the long run. Earlier this month, the Wolverines made headlines by flipping five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers. The move drew sharp criticism from ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who voiced disbelief over Kelly losing such a high-profile recruit to Michigan under Moore’s leadership.
“You didn’t lose him to Kirby Smart. You didn’t lose him to Prime Time. You lost him to Sherrone Moore? At Michigan? That ain’t Jim Harbaugh coaching at Michigan. Moore? No disrespect, but I’m like, wait a minute. It’s not just about the prospect you lost; it’s who you lost him to,” Smith said.
While the ESPN host questions Moore’s recruiting prowess, Underwood clearly doesn’t, and Hart’s decommitment may be a testament to Michigan’s confidence in their latest quarterback recruit.
