JUST IN: Vikings tight end returns to practice on Friday

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson officially returned to practice on Friday but, as expected, won’t play on Sunday against the New York Jets in London. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said earlier this week that the team would open Hockenson’s 21-day practice window, giving him his first chance to participate in a team practice since he suffered a torn ACL late last season.

With the Vikings on a bye week after the Jets game, Hockenson will be able to get an extra week of rest before possibly rejoining the team for its Oct. 20 game against Detroit or, perhaps more likely at this point, the Oct. 24 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

No other Minnesota players have an injury designation heading into Sunday’s game.

Meanwhile the Jets had already ruled out their starting right tackle, Morgan Moses, due to a knee injury, and also listed linebacker C.J. Mosley and defensive tackle Leki Fotu as doubtful for this weekend’s game against the Vikings. Sunday’s game is set to kick off at 8:30 a.m. (CT) as the Vikings try for a 5-0 start to the season. KARE/NBC will broadcast the game, which will otherwise be shown only on NFL Network, in the Twin Cities.
