The Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) will host the Baltimore Ravens (2-2) in Week 5, making it a crucial matchup for both teams in the AFC North standings.
Here are three Bengals players who could have a significant impact on the game:
Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase
Cincinnati is expected to lean heavily on its passing game to secure a victory on Sunday. The Ravens have the league’s best rushing defense, allowing only 57.8 rushing yards per game, but they rank fifth in passing yards allowed, giving up 257.5 yards per game. This sets the stage for Chase, who leads the team with 19 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns, to shine. He also has a strong history against the Ravens, recording 37 catches for 505 yards and three touchdowns in their previous six matchups.
Defensive Tackle Jay Tufele
The Bengals’ top defensive priority will be to contain running back Derrick Henry, who is at the helm of the NFL’s top rushing offense. Despite being 30 years old, Henry has continued to perform well, amassing 480 yards (6 yards per carry) and five touchdowns. Cincinnati’s defensive line is somewhat depleted due to injuries to tackles Sheldon Rankins and B.J. Hill. Tufele will need to step up, as he has already contributed 10 tackles and half a sack this season. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound lineman must effectively fill gaps to prevent Henry from gaining significant yardage.
Linebacker Logan Wilson
Lamar Jackson is another key player for Baltimore, as he’s also excelling on the ground with 308 rushing yards (7.5 yards per carry) and two touchdowns this season. Wilson, leading the Bengals with 43 tackles, will play a crucial role in limiting Jackson’s effectiveness as a runner. While it will require more than just Wilson to contain Jackson, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take on the role of a quarterback spy during the game.
