AJ Hinch has chosen to use 12 of the 26 available roster spots for this series, ending much discussion about how many pitchers he will bring. In order for the Tigers to spare their bullpen arms for this game, Kenta Maeda was left off following his Sunday throws. Keider Montero, who pitched on Sunday and is expected to be on the ALDS roster should the Tigers advance, is another intriguing addition to the team. Montero was a major factor in the Tigers’ success. If the series runs to three games, Skubal, Reese Olson, and every other available player will likely be in the rotation. The objective is to triumph now.
