The Chicago Bears had an impressive ground game on Sunday, leading to tailback D’Andre Swift’s nomination for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week. In the matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Swift rushed 16 times for 93 yards (5.8 yards per carry) and scored a touchdown, while also catching seven passes for 72 yards. His total of 165 yards from scrimmage marked the second-highest of his career. This is Swift’s sixth nomination for the FedEx Award since he joined the league in 2020.
He faces tough competition this week from Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens, who tallied 209 scrimmage yards (199 rushing, 10 receiving) and scored two touchdowns (one rushing and one receiving).
Also nominated is Jordan Mason of the San Francisco 49ers, who accumulated 160 scrimmage yards (123 rushing, 37 receiving) along with one rushing touchdown.
Positionless voting means Swift will be up against three nominated quarterbacks.
Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels had an impressive performance on Sunday, completing 26 of 30 passes (86.7 percent) for 233 yards and one touchdown, earning a 96.3 rating. He also rushed for 47 yards and another touchdown.
Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed 30 of 47 passes (63.8 percent) for 347 yards and two touchdowns, achieving a passer rating of 100.2.
C.J. Stroud from the Houston Texans went 27 of 40 (67.5 percent) for 345 yards and two touchdowns, with a passer rating of 110.9.
Additionally, FedEx will continue its tradition of donating $2,000 weekly in the names of the two winning players (totaling $4,000) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities for needs-based scholarships for deserving students throughout the season.
